Service on the Crown in civil proceedings
Service on the Crown-in-right-of-Canada or of a province varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The formalities of service must be observed, and these formalities are enhanced by the particular requirements of Crown proceedings legislation in each jurisdiction.

Per. rule 133 of the Federal Court Rules, service of an originating document on the Crown-in-right-of-Canada in the Federal Court is effected by filing the document in the Federal Court registry.
